What are the hardware and software requirements for building your own mail server?

To build a mailbox server, you must first select a mail server software. Commonly used mail server software includes: Winmail, Exchange, Mdaemon, Winwebmail, Imail, Coremail, U-Mail, TurboMail, iGENUS, Icewarp, Easy Mail, Golden Flute, MagicMail, etc.

Then decide the configuration of the server according to the number of users in the mailbox. Servers with a large number of users have higher hardware requirements, such as 1000 user's enterprise mailbox configuration:

Dell PowerEdge R7 10 × 2, 16G memory, a CPU and six 500G SAS hard drives.

Software requirements:

CentOS 5.3 or above Mysql 5. 1 or above.

According to the different situations of enterprises, it needs many years of experience in mailbox operation.

Hardware requirements:

About 500 users, a quad-core CPU, 4G memory, hard disk to see how much space is allocated to users. If the number of users is large, the hardware configuration will be improved accordingly.

Take exchange2007 as an example

Processor Intel Pentium 800 MHz or faster 32-bit processor

The processor based on X64 architecture supports Intel 64-bit extended memory technology.

AMD 64-bit processor supporting AMD64 platform

Minimum memory: 2GB

Suggestion: 2GB per server and 5MB per mailbox.

The page file size is equal to the server memory capacity plus 10MB.

Hard disk installation swap processor.

The drive has at least 1.2 GB of free space.

To install the UM language pack, you need to add 500MB of space.

There is at least 200 MB of free space on the system drive.

As long as you hang it on the internet, you can send emails to each other.
