What is the legal age for marriage stipulated by the state?

Under normal circumstances, the age of marriage for men should not be earlier than 22 years old and for women should not be earlier than 20 years old. In certain areas (where most ethnic minorities live), the flexible regulations may be different. The marriage age stipulated in the marriage law has universal applicability, but in some special cases, the law also allows exceptions to the marriage age. For example, considering the multi-ethnic characteristics of our country, Article 50 of the Marriage Law stipulates: "The people's congresses in ethnic autonomous areas have the right to formulate flexible provisions in light of the specific conditions of local ethnic marriages and families.

Legal basis:

Article 1047 of the Civil Code: The age of marriage shall not be earlier than 22 for men and 20 for women.

Article 105 1 The marriage is invalid in any of the following circumstances:

(1) Bigamy;

(2) Having a family relationship that prohibits marriage;

(three) did not reach the legal age for marriage.

Article 1049 If both men and women want to get married, they should apply for marriage registration in person at the marriage registration office. Article 2 of the Regulations on Adaptation of Marriage Age in Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture: The marriage age of ethnic minorities with local household registration shall not be earlier than 20 years for men and 18 years for women.

Article 5 of the Supplementary Provisions on Marriage and Family Planning in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture: The age of marriage shall not be earlier than 20 for men and 18 for women. Carry out family planning and advocate late marriage and childbearing.

Article 3 of the "Flexible Provisions on the Implementation of Marriage and Family Organization in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture": The age of marriage shall not be earlier than 20 years for men and 18 years for women.

Marriage registration ordinance

Article 6 In any of the following circumstances, the marriage registration authority shall not grant marriage registration:
