Plot introduction:

Writer Jack torrance (Jack Nicholson) decides to take over a luxurious mountain hotel to improve his working conditions. This hotel is located in a remote place. In winter, it was closed because of heavy snow. It is said that its former manager lost his mind for no reason and killed his whole family before committing suicide.

Jack just wants to find a quiet place to concentrate on his writing and doesn't care about gossip. So, despite the advice of his friend Danny (Danny Lloyd), he drove his wife Wendy (Shirley Dewar) and his son Danny into this luxury hotel. They made new rules, and Jack also set up a lounge for his own creation.

However, everything is not as they wish. Jack couldn't write normally all the time and began to frequent hotel bars. Various hallucinations or some bloody images kept popping up in his mind, and the ghost of the former manager repeatedly induced Jack to kill his family.

Wendy saw Jack's manuscript paper and found Jebink's abnormality. At the same time, her son kept talking about all kinds of evil spirits and other messy things.

When Wendy radioed for help, Jack exposed himself, broke the radio, got pregnant with a snowmobile, and killed Tony who came to visit. Wendy had to knock it off with a baseball bat and lock it in the storage room. With the help of the ghost, Jack left the storeroom and pursued the mother and son.

Finally, Danny used the maze to get rid of Jack's pursuit, boarded Tony's snowmobile and fled the horrible hotel with his mother.

Jack's strange smile appeared in the photos of the hotel staff.

This film is a horror film with bright colors and a low tone. Director Kubrick's directing technique has a unique personal style. The atmosphere of terror is hidden in the change of the hero's character. The technical achievements far exceed the level of similar films, especially the low-angle follow-up shots, and the ending photos are ambiguous and suspicious.
