Will veterans be recalled to the army?

When the country is in a state of war, veterans can be recalled conditionally. Although retired soldiers have lived in society, they have learned a lot of military knowledge during their days in the army. The state stipulates that these demobilized soldiers are still part of the Chinese armed forces, that is, the reserve forces. The following are the situations in which veterans may be recalled:

First, if the war breaks out, the reserve forces will be directly converted into active forces according to the wartime mobilization order. Once the war breaks out, the reserve forces can be quickly converted into active forces to participate in the war, thus making up for the possible shortage of troops.

Second, the state will also recall retired soldiers when it is necessary to maintain social stability in an emergency.

Third, during military exercises, retired soldiers can participate in military exercises in the market, so that their military skills will not be unfamiliar and they can be called at any time in wartime or emergency.

At that time, it was the stage of new veterans alternating and a large number of military cadres changing jobs, and the lack of skilled technical arms was a realistic problem. With the approval of the Central Military Commission, the participating troops ordered the recall of retired and demobilized soldiers and cadres of artillery, tank soldiers, engineers, signal soldiers and other technical arms.

There will be no recall of retired demobilized soldiers and cadres in the subsequent self-defense counterattack against Vietnam or in the peaceful period after the 1990 s. Moreover, according to the provisions of the military service law, China implements the system of reserve soldiers and cadres, so there can be no recall of 1979.

According to the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on National Defense Mobilization, people's governments at all levels and military organs at all levels must mobilize quickly according to law after the state issues a mobilization order or the State Council and the Central Military Commission (CMC) take necessary national defense mobilization measures. Soldiers should stop retiring from active service, and soldiers on leave or visiting relatives should return to the army immediately. Reserve personnel are ready to be called up for active service at any time, and citizens who have registered for reserve service should be prepared to be called up for reserve service.

Article 45

In wartime, the State Council and the Central Military Commission (CMC) can decide to appropriately relax the upper age limit for recruiting male citizens for active service, and can decide to extend the time limit for citizens to serve in active service.
